The Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park is pleased to announce the 2023 Hemingway Foundation OPRF Student Scholarship Essay Contests. There are two (2) scholarship essay contests each is based on a 300-600 word essay on a given prompt and is open to all Oak Park River Forest High School (OPRFHS) junior & senior in conjunction with the English Division at the High School.

Hemingway Foundation Scholarship (Juniors Only)

The top three finalists chosen are included in our annual Hemingway Shorts literary journal. The first place winner receives a $1,000 college scholarship, and a writing mentorship with the Foundation's Writer-in-Residence during their senior year at OPRFHS.

Allan O Baldwin Scholarship (Seniors Only)

The overall winner receives a $1000 college scholarship and their works is published tin our annual Hemingway Shorts literary journal.

These scholarships are administrated through the Oak Park and River Forest High School Scholarship Foundation, You must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5 to apply.

The submission link opens on February 1, 2023 and remains open until Friday, March 17th, the link can be found HERE (as of Feb 1, 2023).
