A Moveable Read: Hemingway in the 21st Century

This six-part discussion series is based on the book, “The Snows of Kilimanjaro and Other Stories”, by Ernest Hemingway featuring guest speakers discussing specific short stories and interrelated topics of today. A craft talk will take place at the end of each discussion.

Part Six: The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber

Among the most famous of Hemingway’s short stories, "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber" is also a gateway into the relationship between Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. This conversation will focus on the ways in which Hemingway used his “friend” as a muse, how he viewed his contemporary, and the ways in which their friendship and rivalry manifested in some of the most enduring works of 20th century American literature.
